There is a strong opposition to the new agriculture bill brought by the central government. Farmers across the country demonstrated against the bill. While Harsimrat Kaur Badal, a minister in another central government, resigned in protest against the agriculture bill, the opposition is also continuously opposing this bill. Rahul Gandhi has spoken of going to court, calling the bill a black law.
Farmers and opposition allege about the bill that this will end the market system and farmers will not be able to get the MSP (Minimum Support Price) for the crops. Farmers’ organizations allege that this bill is not in the interest of the farmers. With this bill, big corporate companies will take possession of farmers’ fields and mandis. While the government claims that the changes being brought in agriculture will increase the income of farmers, they will get new opportunities. Intermediaries will end. Small farmers will benefit the most from this. Farmers also take their goods outside the market and sell it. However, the Prime Minister and the Agriculture Minister are repeatedly saying that the MSP and Mandi system will remain the same as before. But regarding this, the farmers’ organizations want that the government should make its law. Farmers want the government to make a law regarding MSP. So that farmers can sell their produce in the market or outside at the MSP fixed by the government.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had also said about this in the Lok Sabha that MSP will also be there and agricultural markets will also be there. Now the farmer is free to sell his crop anywhere in the country, even outside the market, at any cost. Now considering the main points of the bill, the bill is the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, which will be a law under which farmers and traders will have the freedom to sell crops outside the APMC’s mandi. Regarding this, the government is saying that the mandis are not closing. Such a system is being given only to the farmers, under which they can sell their crops to any buyer at a good price.

The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Bill, 2020. This is a bill under which farmers will be provided with a framework for contract farming. Then when the Contract Act comes into service and 18 percent GST will be levied on it. That is, now there will be tax in the barn too. If there is any dispute in marketing or if the quality of the crop is not right, then money will not be available. No one has guaranteed it.

      what is msp?

The system of Minimum Support Price (MSP) has been implemented in the country so that farmers do not suffer loss in their crops. In this, if the price of the crop is less according to the market, then the government buys it according to the MSP. So that farmers can be saved from loss. MSP is one for the whole country.
